Abstract The authors interviewed IT and other personnel at 30 manufacturing firms of various sizes to discover the major issues concerning the implementation of enterprise resource planning (ERP). Among the conclusions reached, the authors were surprised to learn that smaller organizations implementing ERP with a “big-bang” approach proved more successful than larger firms using a gradual rollout.
