A unified theoretical base is developed for flow direction probes. The theoretical results are compared to an extensive series of experimental measurements. The mathematical and experimental results are in good agreement for geometrically 'true' bodies. Manufacturing anomalies encountered in miniature flow direction probes negate an exact comparison in this case; however, the theoretical relationships are functionally correct and form the basis for a unified series of calibration relations.
