Distribution of class I and class II fructose biphosphate aldolases in halophilic archaebacteria

Abstract

Both class I (Schiff base-forming) and class II (metal-requiring) fructose biphosphate (FDP) aldolases were found to be distributed among halophilic archaebacteria. The type of enzyme did not vary with the growth medium. The aldolase activities were also halophilic.
