A fast, computer controlled, scanned grating system has been used as part of a compact, sealed CO2 TEA laser. Accurate line selection has been demonstrated on over 40 transitions, from 9.2 to 10.7 mu m, at repetition rates of 30 Hz. Energy outputs of up to 50 mJ can be achieved with the addition of hydrogen under flowing gas conditions.
