The relative intensities of the transitions occurring in the fluorescence spectrum of KY3F10: 1% Eu have been measured at 77 and 4 K. By using the computed eigenfunctions for each Stark level, the Judd–Ofelt theory is used for calculations of the electric dipole intensities. The nine phenomenological parameters allowed by the C4v point site symmetry of the lanthanide in KY3F10 are obtained, showing a good simulation of the phenomena. They have been compared in some cases to a priori calculations. The multipolar character of the transition and the importance of the J-mixing effect are underlined.
