In conclusion, our data confirm that EpCAM overexpression is an early event during prostate cancer progression. Epithelial cell adhesion molecule displays a dynamic, heterogeneous expression and associates with epithelial cells rather than mesenchymal, chemoresistant cells along with processes of EMT and MET.
