Terminating the trellis of turbo-codes in the samestate

Abstract

A new type of interleaver for rate-1/2 turbo-codes is designed which allows both encoders of a turbo-encoder to end in the same state. This will improve the performance of turbocodes when a maximum a posteriori decoding algorithm is used in an iterative decoder.
