The K I-like spectrum of titanium, Ti IV, has been observed and analysed. Fifty-one lines in the region 8 000-2 000 Å and eight lines in the vacuum-ultraviolet establish the levels of 4-7s, 4-6p, 3-7d, 4-5f, 5-7g, 6-7h, 7-8i, and one level of 3p53d2. The polarization formula, applied to ng, nh and ni, gives an ionization limit of 348 973.3±1.5 cm-1 and a core polarizability of 1.367 a03.
