Abstract Neuropsychological evaluations of non-English speakers are frequently conducted by clinicians who do not know, or have limited knowledge of, the language of the examinee. The authors discuss the possible underlying causes of such practices, give examples of the risks involved in such practices, examine the aspects of the Ethics Code that may assist in guiding the clinician, and make recommendations on steps to take to avoid unethical or even illegal practices.
