Abstract

A variable rate, direct nozzle injection field sprayer was designed and constructed. The sprayer was capable of both laboratory and field operation. Spray pattern uniformity and system time response were measured in the laboratory using a WRK, Inc. string analysis system. The spray pattern uniformity using direct nozzle injection was not significantly different from that generated by a traditional tank mix system. The average time constant was 2.5 s and the average rise time was 3.8 s.
