The authors present experimental results on transmission of 30 ns, 527 nm pulses through C60 toluene solution which show that non-linear scattering plays a major role in the strong optical limiting action of C60 solutions. Angularly and temporally resolved measurements of the scattered light suggest that the scattering is of thermal origin. Results of z-scan studies are also presented which show significant non-linear refraction in the C60 solution.
