In the one‐step electrocatalytic oxidation of benzene with using the Cu(I)/Cu(II redox couple as a mediator, hydroquinone was obtained in the current efficiency of 35–42%. The electrolysis with continuous extraction of the oxidation products yielded p‐benzoquinone in the current efficiency of 50%. The reaction mechanism for the formation of hydroquinone and p‐benzoquinone is fully discussed.
