Operating systems review

Abstract

This is my first issue as editor of Operating System Review and the first order of business is to thank Prof. William Waite for his 32 years of dedicated service as the previous editor of OSR. Keith Marzullo determined that Bill's term of volunteer service is the longest in ACM history! At SOSP 2005, attendees had an opportunity to sign his first issue from 1973 and his last 2005 issue. I am told that in 32 years he was never late with an issue of OSR so I have some big shoes to fill.
