Abstract Starting from 1,1‐dimethyl‐2‐carbethoxy (or ‐carbomethoxy)‐ cyclo hexan‐3‐one and passing through 1,1‐dimethyl‐2‐hydroxymethyl‐ cyclo hexan‐3‐one and 1,1,3‐trimethyl‐2‐hydroxymethyl‐ cyclo hexan‐3‐ol, a mixture of α‐ and γ‐ cyclo geraniol has been prepared.
