Abstract

An instrument called the corrodescope has been designed and built which is capable of contour mapping potential profiles in solutions adjacent to corroding metal surfaces. The instrument has applications to the study of localized corrosion such as pitting, and in determining the effectiveness of inhibitors and coatings.
