The authors propose an example of medicinal chemistry experiment that is concerned by future chemists, particularly, advanced students in universities. A new synthetic approach to Sulotroban, an antithrombotic drug is described. The chemical experimental procedures given integrate an infrared spectroscopy technique for monitoring the chromatographic purification processes used in this synthesis. The purpose of the proposed manipulations is to reflect in a concrete manner the reality of doing research on and preparing drugs of chemical origin.
