Infrared emission from plasma exposed and virgin CFC, as well as virgin fine grain graphite was investigated in the laboratory with a spatial resolution of 30 µm. The surface structure, as measured with SEM, was different for both CFC probes, but the infrared emission show a comparable spatial structure. The error for a large area temperature measurement is estimated from a two component model. It decreases with increasing temperature and is below 10% at 800 K for the probes under investigation.
