The recovery times for transient bleaching of the <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">Q</tex> -switch dye bis(4-dimethylaminodithiobenzil)nickel (BDN) in the solvents dichlorethane and iodoethane have been determined. The lengths of pulses from an Nd:glass laser mode locked with BDN have also been measured by means of the two-photon fluorescence technique.
