The monofluoromethylidene complexes Ru(CHF)(H2IMes)(PCy3)Cl2 (10) and Ru(CHF)(H2IMes)(py)2Cl2 (11) have been synthesized from Ru(CHPh)(H2IMes)(PCy3)Cl2 and Ru(CHPh)(H2IMes)(py)2Cl2 via reaction with β-fluorostyrene. Both 10 and 11 catalyze ring-closing metathesis and cross-metathesis with activity comparable to that of Ru(CHOEt)(H2IMes)(PCy3)Cl2.
