Two methods of measurement of the acoustic reflectivities of solids immersed in water were adapted to specimens in which either two or all three of the dimensions were small (e.g. one to ten times the incident wavelength). These methods are particularly relevant to materials which cannot be obtained in sufficient bulk or which are of a flabby nature. The latter can be largely overcome by using small samples.
