Polarization in the Elastic Scattering of Deuterons from Complex Nuclei in the Energy \nRegion 94 to 157 Mev.

Abstract

Tbe elaetic double scattering of deugerons by complex nuclei has been inve atigated experimentally.Measurements were made on caxbcm, ~~i a u r n , and copper near 157 ,Mev, on lithium, beryllium, and carbon near 125 ~Mev, and on carbon and aluminum at 94 Mev.33s expected tensor componentrp of the deuteran polarization have not been found.-Measurement e have: been made of the differential cross section and vector-type poiarizatian as a function of le.The observed polarizatione were found to be larger khan would be expected on the basis of the individual nucleon-nucleus inte raetions .
