Abstract

The Cameron bands (all - 1~) of carbon monoxide were photographed in emission under high disper- sion. From a study of their structure the following vibrational constants are derived for the ground state of the CO molecule: We = 2170.21 cm-'; w6X6 = 13.461 cm'; c~y~ = 0.0308 cm-'. The rotational con- stants B~ for the levels v" 0-4 can be represented by a formula of the form B~ = B~ - a(v + ~). Finally, the present knowledge regarding the molecular constants for the ground state of the CO molecule is summarized. I. INTRODUCTIO
