Abstract Our purpose was to determine the effect of an Endogone endomycorrhizal fungus on nodulating and nonnodulating isolines of ‘Hardee’ soybeans ( Glycine max (L.) Merr.) growing in methyl bromide‐fumigated soil in the field. Inoculation with Endogone significantly increased seed yield and other traits of the nodulating but not the nonnodulating isoline. Indirect evidence suggested Endogone did not significantly increase nitrogen absorption of the nonnodulating isoline.
