It occurs as localized amyloidosis, generalized "primary" amyloidosis without any predisposing disease, and generalized "secondary" amyloidosis with predisposing disease (2).Localized amyloidosis occurs in the respiratory tract, the bladder, urethra, skin, oral mucosa, and occasionally in squamous papillomas and basal cell carcinomas of the skin (2). Primary amyloidosis consists of amyloid of slightly different staining characteristics from those of the secondary variety. It involves primarily the liver, heart, and spleen, and to a lesser extent the...References1. OSSERMAN EF: Plasma cell myeloma. II. Clinical aspects (concluded). New Engl. J. Med. 261: 1006, 1959.
