Abstract

Electronic crosscorrelation of the densitometric wash-out curves obtained during video-tape-recorded angiography provides a simple, fast, and accurate means of measuring intravascular flow velocity. Using a template-matching approach eliminates many problems inherent in other methods, particularly the physiological effects of angiographic contrast materials and the physical effects of layering common to all current techniques. Comparison with direct bolus-displacement measurements is presented.
