Abstract

Small particles (diam 150 Å) of anatase (TiO2) may be reduced on surface by uv irradiation at room temperature in vacuo. Irradiation in oxygen creates O2− species which are active in the oxidation of hydrocarbons at room temperature in ultraviolet.
