Abstract

Angiotensin II-induced hypertension specifically increased the development of atherosclerosis in apoE knockout mice. This response was seen in animals receiving either standard chow or an atherogenic diet. These studies demonstrate the profound effect of angiotensin II on the development of atherosclerosis.
