Mechanisms and regulation of bile secretion

Abstract

The physiological process of bile secretion has been studied extensively and is the subject of many reviews (1-7).During the past few years, several new aspects have been explored, including cellular mechanisms, hormonal regulation and contributions from nonparenchymal (bile ductular) cells.This review focuses on these more recent developments in our understanding of the mechanisms and regulation of bile formation.
