Disorders in which "protein-losing gastroenteropathy" (2) has been described include giant hypertrophy of the gastric mucosa (3), adenocarcinoma of the stomach (4), regional ileitis and ulcerative colitis (5, 6,), granulomatous disease of the small bowel (6), nontropical (7, 8) and tropical sprue (9), intestinal lymphangiectasia (10), and Whipple's disease (11). Although hypoproteinemia has occasionally been found in patients with lymphomatous disease of the bowel (6, 12, 13), we know of no well-documented case in which the mechanism of the...References1.
