Abstract Nonlinear current‐voltage characteristics of Ta 2 O 5 and Nb 2 O 5 amorphous oxides are studied in the temperature range from 213 to 363 K. The data give an evidence for the polaron mechanism of charge transport in these materials. A theoretical treatment of data is presented that gives a critical hopping lenght and a critical index.
