Radio-frequency (RF) and microwave heating techniques are reviewed. Clinical applications touched on include interstitial hyperthermia, ferromagnetic seed implants, local external hyperthermia, regional hyperthermia, and phased-array hyperthermia. Examples of heating patterns of various applicators are shown to illustrate the complex energy deposition of RF and microwave energy.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
