About

Ionizing radiation is electromagnetic or particulate radiation possessing sufficient energy to remove tightly bound electrons from atoms or molecules, thereby creating ions. As a research concept, it investigates the generation, physical properties, interaction mechanisms with matter (including biological systems), detection, measurement (dosimetry), and the resulting physical, chemical, and biological effects of various forms such as alpha particles, beta particles, gamma rays, X-rays, and neutrons. The significance of this field lies in understanding and managing its fundamental role in nuclear processes, energy applications, medical technologies, industrial applications, and environmental science for both beneficial use and hazard mitigation.
