Abstract Sol-gel process was used to prepare Li modified polycrystalline PLZT, Pb0.9. (La1-z/3Liz)0.1(Zr0.53Ti0.47)0.975O3 (z = 0.0, 0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7), near the morphotropic phase boundary. X-ray powder diffraction studies of these compounds suggest that they can be formed in single phase at relatively low temperatures. Detailed dielectric studies of the compounds as a function of temperature (from room temperature to 350°C) at 10 kHz show that the broadening of the permittivity peak, and transition temperature, change with increase in Li ion concentration. Analysis of diffusivity (γ) of these compounds shows its value to be between 1 and 2, which is due to the disordering of the system. Electrical resistivity of these compounds increases with increase in Li ion concentration. Key Words: FerroelectricsDielectric constantDiffuse phase transitionPLLZT
