Abstract

The electron spatial distribution within a magnetic cusp and surrounding regions were measured noninvasively using laser-collision induced fluorescence. The spatial density profiles were used to infer the plasma leak width. Leak widths were found to scale with the hybrid gyroradius. The scaling constant of proportionality was found to increase with pressure, consistent with theoretical predictions.
