Abstract

Climax lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta var. latifolia) stands are demonstrated. Size—class distribution fits a negative exponential curve, with size closely correlated to age. Maintenance of this climax does not appear to be dependent on fires. Such stands cover extensive areas in the park and may constitute a lodgepole pine zone.
