Animal experiments (3) and observations in patients with renal artery stenosis (4) show the importance of the renin-angiotensin system in regulating glomerular filtration rate when renal perfusion pressure is low. In newborns, arterial pressure is low, and renal autoregulation might be warranted by the highly activated renin-angiotensin system (5). We report a case of reversible acute renal failure in a premature newborn (35 weeks) whose mother had received the angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor enalapril, 20 mg/d for 17 days, before delivering...References1.
