Histiocytoma of the Bronchus

Abstract

Primary tumors of the bronchus in children are rare. The majority of these are adenomas,^1-8although cases of papilloma,⁹myoblastoma,¹⁰fibrosarcoma,¹¹and adenocarcinoma^12-14have been reported.* We have been unable to find in the literature a description of a bronchial tumor of the type to be presented. Stout¹⁵has seen one similar tumor in the bronchus of a 46-year-old woman. <h3>Report of Case</h3> A six-year-old white boy was first seen on Jan. 3, 1950. He had had pneumonia three weeks previously, and he complained of persistent cough. The past history was significant in that he had had pneumonia at the age of 4 years. He had recovered completely from this illness and had no respiratory or other illnesses until the onset of his present illness. Physical examination showed him to be alert and well-nourished; weight was 25.8 kg.; height, 116 cm. The skin and
