Abstract

AbstractAbstract1. Occasional reference is made in textbooks to triaxial spheroids (in which the equatorial section is itself not circular, as in spheroids of revolution, but elliptical), but the usual approach to projections of spheroids (and ellipsoids, if considered at all) appears to be analytical, in the sense of providing complicated algebraic corrections to formulae for the corresponding projections of the sphere, rather than geometrical.
