Abstract

According to these results, patients who reenter treatment programs often present with more severe addiction problems. All of these data suggest that treatment programs should incorporate a detailed analysis regarding the existence and nature of prior treatments into the baseline protocols and they should offer follow-up services to patients who have completed their treatments. The implications of these results for further research and clinical practice are discussed.
