The photon attenuation cross section of uranium

Abstract

Measurements of the attenuation cross section of uranium have been made for photons of eleven discrete energies in the region 10 to 300 keV in order to resolve large discrepancies between two previously published estimates of this cross section. The present results he between these estimates and agree with some other recent experimental work. They are also in good agreement with the sum of the photoelectric, coherent scattering and incoherent scattering partial cross sections obtained from theoretical calculations.
