Kinetic resolution of planar-chiral 1,1‘-diallylferrocene derivatives was realized by molybdenum-catalyzed asymmetric ring-closing metathesis with excellent enantioselectivity. This is the first example of highly enantioselective metal-catalyzed methods of preparing optically active planar-chiral metallocenes.
