Measurement of the absolute differential cross section for autoionization from the levels (2s2p)³P and (2s²)¹S of helium

Abstract

An experimental method is described which permits the determination of absolute differential cross sections for the autoionization of helium by electron impact. The analysis of this experiment in terms of the theory of Balashov is discussed, and illustrated for an incident electron energy of 80 eV.
