Abstract

Abstract Ultrastructural examination of sciatic nerves from postnatal mice and rats revealed myelinated and nonmyelinated fibers with structural characteristics similar to those seen in Wallerian degeneration. Such fibers are more commonly found between 7 and 14 days and are believed to represent spontaneous axon degenerations during development.
