Abstract

HE OCCURRENCE of intraepithelial carci-T noma in the esophagus harboring a grossly invasive carcinoma has important implications in evaluating the extent of surgical treatment. Despite the clinical and pathological significance of intraepithelial carcinoma concomitant with esophageal carcinoma, only a few detailed histopathological studies regarding its incidence, extent, and anatomic relationship with the main carcinoma have appeared in the literature.11 l2
