Geometrical structure of disordered packings of regular polygons; comparison with disc packings structures

Abstract

The geometrical structure of binary mixtures of regular polygons is experimentally studied, and compared with disc packing structure. The packing fraction does not vary with the composition of the mixture. Two coordinances must be defined: vertex-to-face coordinance and face-to-face coordinance. The last one is very dependent on the mechanical constraints applied to the system.
