Reaction of 4-chlorotoluene with the amination precatalyst [Pd(cyclo-C{N(2,6-iPr2-C6H3)CH2}2)2] leads to reductive elimination of the arylated imidazolium salt, whereas the analogous reaction with [Pd(cyclo-C{NtBuCH}2)2] affords the structurally characterized oxidative-addition product trans-[Pd(cyclo-C{NtBuCH}2)2(4-Me-C6H4)Cl].
