Fluorescence of Solutions Bombarded with High Energy Radiation (Energy Transport in Liquids)

It is experimentally shown that solutions bombarded with high energy radiation exhibit strong fluorescence when only small amounts of "fluorescent molecules" are added to the solvent. The same amount of fluorescent substance alone would give only about 0.01 of the observed light emission. The large emission in the solution is explained by a transport of excitation energy from the solvent to the fluorescent molecules. An analysis of the mechanism energy transport in the liquid is also given.
