Vibrational energy transfer rates in HBr–DBr mixtures have been measured by laser-excited vibrational fluorescence. The cross section for vibration→vibration energy exchange is σHBr → DBrV → V=(1.5 ± 0.15) × 10−18 cm2. For vibration→rotation and translation energy transfer the cross sections are σDBr–DBr=(1.3 ± 0.2) × 10−19 cm2 and σDBr–HBr=(2.7 ± 0.5) × 10−19 cm2.
