Abstract

The preparation of cationic hydride complexes of general formula trans-[MH(L)(depe)2] BPh4(M = Fe, Ru, or Os; L = CO, Me3CNC, P(OMe)3, N2, PhCN, etc.; depe = 1,2-bisdiethylphosphinoethane) is reported together with their i.r., 1H n.m.r., and Mössbauer spectra. A comparison is made between the bonding properties of molecular nitrogen and the other neutral ligands (L) in the series.
