The author's work confirms Lander's conclusion that monobasic, dibasic, and tetrabasic lead sulfates are the only stable lead sulfates in the lead oxide‐ lead sulfate system aboye 210 °C. The author proposes a new room temperature x‐ray pattern for dibasic lead sulfate. The decomposition temperature of dibasic lead sulfate in air is shown to be by high‐temperature x‐ray analysis. The thermal inflection in the lead oxide‐lead sulfate system at 450°C, first reported by Schenck and Rassbach, was found to be caused by a structural change in metastable dibasic lead sulfate.
